The exhibition "All about footwear" will by opened today in Nizhniy Novgorod regional library of Lenin.
In an exposition thematic books are submitted.
The history of footwear ancient as much as a history of human culture and the form of footwear changes at all times and at all nations.
Ancient Jews weared footwear made of leather, wool, reed or wood, warriors wore iron and copper footwear. Greeks except for simple sandals wore half-boots with back and boots with lacing.
Romans used two kinds of footwear: one of them - "calceus", closing all foot, and lackedemonian - footwear of red color.
The exhibition will continue till March, 12.
